Virginia Women’s Tennis | No. 5 Virginia’s Road Trip Continues with Two Weekend Matches

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 5 Virginia women’s tennis team (10-2, 2-0) continues its extended road trip with two conference matches. The Cavaliers play at Georgia Tech (6-4) on Friday, March 1 at 4 p.m. and at Clemson (7-4) on Sunday, March 3 at 11 a.m.

CAVALIER NOTES

  • Virginia has moved up to a season-best No. 5 ranking. The Cavaliers started the season ranked No. 12 and were ranked No. 11 heading into the ITA Indoor National Team Championships
  • The Cavaliers are a combined 20-3 on singles courts four and five this season
  • Senior Hibah Shaikh and junior Mélodie Collard both come into the weekend with 18 singles victories. Both have won their last three completed singles matches
  • Senior Sara Ziodato leads the team with a 21-6 record in singles
  • Junior Elaine Chervinsky is 9-1 in singles this season
  • Shaikh and grad student Natasha Subhash are 13-2 in doubles with a 7-1 record in dual matches
  • This will be the second meeting of the year between UVA and Georgia Tech. The Cavaliers downed the Yellow Jackets 4-0 during ITA Kickoff Weekend in January
  • Georgia Tech is ranked No. 41 in the latest ITA Team Rankings. Clemson is No. 51
  • Virginia leads the all-time series against Georgia Tech…
