Virginia Women’s Tennis | Adams and Collard Fall in the NCAA Doubles Semifinals

ORLANDO, Fla. – Virginia women’s tennis players Julia Adams and Mélodie Collard fell in the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship on Friday (May 26) at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Adams and Collard, who are ranked No. 10 in the ITA doubles rankings, were edged 6-4, 7-6 (3) by North Carolina’s No. 11 Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig.

It will be an all-North Carolina final in doubles with Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty advancing from the other side of the bracket.

This is the second time in program history that a Cavalier duo has advanced to the semifinals, matching the run of Rosie Johanson and Emma Navarro in 2021.

Adams and Collard earn All-America honors for doubles with their finish in the championship. They finish the season with a record of 24-6 as a doubles team.

Adams and Collard opened the tournament on Tuesday with a 6-4, 6-3 win against No. 23 Amelia Honer and Kira Reuter of UC Santa Barbara. On Wednesday, the Cavaliers won a pair of tiebreakers to take down No. 9 Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki of NC State, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7) in the Round of 16. They topped No. 17 Katherine Duong and Megan Hesuer of Illinois 6-1, 6-3 on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
