Venus Williams posts injury update after missing Australian Open: Rehabbing in style

Venus Williams is “rehabbing in style” as she has dropped a hint to fans that she will soon be returning to action.

Williams, 42, kicked off her 2023 season at the ASB Classic in Auckland, where she defeated Katie Volynets in the first round.

After beating Volynets, Williams lost to Zhu Lin in her next match and also contracted an injury. Williams, who was awarded a main draw wildcard into the Australian Open, ended up withdrawing from the Australian Open as Tennis Australia redirected the American’s wildcard to Kim Birrell.

“Venus Williams has withdrawn from the Australian Open due to an injury sustained at the ASB Classic in New Zealand. Australia’s Kim Birrell will be awarded her wildcard place,” the Australian Open’s statement read.
