Venus Williams offered some very high praise on Leylah Fernandez as the former world No 1 thinks the Canadian has “the greatest attitude” on the court.” Fernandez, 20, burst onto the scene two years ago when she made the US Open final while ranked around No 70 in the world.
Since then, Fernandez has won one WTA title but overall the Canadian hasn’t had that much success and she went from ranked at No 13 to now being ranked at No 88 in the world. On the court, Fernandez has already become well-known for her fighting and competitive spirit.
Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, says she is rooting for Fernandez every time the 20-year-old steps on the court.
