UTMB World Series introduces new pregnancy policy

UTMB World Series have committed to supporting mothers and their partners through the introduction of a new pregnancy policy. This new UTMB pregnancy policy will apply to events in the 2023 season.

Updated: the UTMB pregnancy policy

The new policy includes deferral and priority entry guidelines for athletes who fall into one of the following categories.

Athletes who are:

  • pregnant
  • have a partner who is pregnant
  • adopting
  • birthing via surrogacy

A commitment to championing women trail runners

The updated policy encourages runners to return to the trails in a safe way. It allows them to do so within a timeframe that is considerate of individual circumstances following birth.

Events with an entry lottery have updated guidelines too. Such prestigious and sought-after events include UTMB® Mont-Blanc, Lavaredo Ultra Trail™ by UTMB®, and Eiger Ultra Trail™ by UTMB®.

For these events, the policy outlines that applicable athletes will be given a full refund and priority entry. This priority entry lasts five years for races in the 50K, 100K and 100M categories, and two years for 20K races.
