The USWNT and China renewed their rivalry in a set of friendlies, and while there were questions about the USWNT roster, they delivered over the two games. China proved to be tough to break down at times and even had a lead during one of the friendlies. Despite that, the United States showed its resilience and fought back. USWNT vs. China Game 1
In the first match, it didn’t take long for the USWNT to break down China. Naomi Girma bypassed China’s backline with a perfect through ball to Trinity Rodman, who found Sophia Smith for an easy tap-in.
China would keep the United States at 1-0 in the first half, but they couldn’t keep the Stars and Stripes out for long. Lindsey Horan would get the second on a long, searching ball that was left untouched and found the net past China’s keeper.
In the end, the United States was too much for China down the flanks. Midge Purce did incredibly well to put the move on her defender and find Jaedyn Shaw, who put the ball across the box. Trinity Rodman was ready and had a tap-in on the back post to wrap the game up 3-0.
