The Huskies advanced to the Elite Eight after largely controlling their matchup with Duke from start to finish. No win comes pretty against the Blue Devils, who press heavily, slow the pace and muck things up defensively. As gritty as Duke is defensively and on the glass, UConn was just as strong. The Huskies forced 22 turnovers, including 5 steals from freshman guard KK Arnold, who came up big multiple times. Paige Bueckers scored a game-high 24 points and was lockdown defensively as well. Aaliyah Edwards was most pivotal for UConn’s defense. She helped to hold Kennedy Brown to 2-of-10 shooting and limited the Blue Devils just 20 points in the paint.
