The 2023 USAG national championships lurched into motion with a few hiccups. With the live stats flashing 9.730, 9.080, and 9.813, gymnasts, coaches, and fans were all left scratching their heads at this new scoring system unveiled without notice.
And with updated scoring not even available to those in the arena, we did some digging. Thanks to post-meet announcements and some searching, we got to the murky bottom of it. As not only were those fluid scores critical to those qualifying to the team final on Friday, but who would be crowned the all-around champion was left a mystery, as well as who would be going on to compete Saturday in the event finals.
If you’re looking to relive the chaos, you can dive into the live blogs from semifinal one and semifinal two.
Welcome, to your unofficial event final qualifiers and scores. Remember that the top five (with ties) on each event from each session advance to Saturday’s competition.
