USA women vs. Argentina lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news as USWNT finish October friendlies

Date:

Emma Hayes will have squad rotation on her mind as she prepares the USWNT to face Argentina in a rare third friendly this October international window.

A pair of 3-1 victories over Iceland gave the United States a positive couple of results from this set of fixtures, but they’ll want to finish strong as they meet their South American opponents in Louisville on Wednesday evening.

Only four players started both the Iceland wins as Hayes looks to keep her starters fresh and give youngsters a chance to shine – and many have taken the opportunity afforded to them. Alyssa Thompson and Emma Sears have both scored important debut international goals this month, which could earn them both more time on the pitch.

Argentina, ranked 33rd in the world, are still finding their feet in the women’s soccer landscape. They are one of the stronger CONMEBOL sides but are still significantly behind Brazil in terms of global relevance.
