It’s time to determine the field that will head to Paris to represent the United States in swimming.
The best swimmers in the U.S. will converge on Indianapolis to participate in unique trials that will be held inside a football stadium, Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Colts, to accommodate large crowd expectations.
The U.S. will take the top two performers in each event to Paris, where they will then hope to continue the United States’ dominance in the aquatic sport. The U.S. edged Australia in gold medals 11-9 in Tokyo, and all expectations are that it will again be a heated battle in 2024, placing added importance on sending the best of the best to compete in the races.
There are some swimmers who feel like a given to be there, including gold medalists like Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel. But nothing is guaranteed, as even past champions can be upset and left off the roster.
