In a matter of hours, USA Gymnastics will choose five women to send to the Paris Olympics in the hopes of returning to the top of international gymnastics. One of the closest competitions in Olympic trials history, athletes have one more shot at proving themselves.
In the week leading up to trials, the competition has been blown wide open. Skye Blakely’s heartbreaking Achilles injury means three spots are up for grabs, as Simone Biles and Shilese Jones are unofficially headed to France. But who will join them?
A beam and bars expert, it looks like Suni Lee will complete the comeback and return to the Games. Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Kayla DiCello are the top contenders for the last two spots, but don’t count out gymnasts like Kaliya Lincoln, Tiana Sumanasekera and Hezley Rivera, as they’re continuing to peak at the right time.
Four rotations remain in Minneapolis until USA Gymnastics has its women’s team for Paris 2024.
