USA-Germany women’s basketball exhibition set for July 23

Team USA women will play Germany in an exhibition game July 23 at the O2 Arena in London just ahead of the Paris Olympics, USA Basketball announced Thursday.

It will be part of a USA Basketball Showcase that week in London with the men’s team playing Olympic warmup games on July 20 against South Sudan and July 22 against current World Cup champion Germany on July 23.

Tickets will go on sale Tuesday at 9 a.m.

The Team USA women will play the WNBA All-Stars as the centerpiece of All-Star Weekend in Phoenix on July 20 before going overseas.

The team held a training camp last weekend in Cleveland during the women’s Final Four where 13 players took part. There were nine former Olympians on the training camp roster, including five-time gold medalist Diana Taurasi and two-time winners Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart.

The 12-member team is expected to be named later this summer. Iowa‘s Caitlin Clark was the 14th player asked to take part in the camp, but she wasn’t able to because she was playing for the Hawkeyes in the Final Four.
