The first round of Unrivaled’s highly anticipated 1-on-1 tournament took place on Monday and featured a few big upsets, none more notable than Aaliyah Edwards’ shutout win over two-time WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart. Edwards drained a number of jumpers en route to a 12-0 win that took less than two minutes.
The (mostly) single-elimination event was supposed to feature 30 players, but Unrivaled announced Sunday that “due to lingering injuries and to prioritize player wellbeing for regular-season games,” the bracket had been adjusted. All told, six first-round matchups were cancelled.
Here is a look at the remaining broadcast schedule:
- Second round and quarterfinals: Tuesday, Feb. 11, 7-10 p.m. ET (truTV)
- Semifinals and Finals: Friday, Feb. 14, 7:30-9 p.m. ET (TNT/truTV)
The 1-on-1 tournament has a $350,000 prize pool with $200,000 going to the champion. In addition, the winning player’s teammates will receive $10,000, while the runner-up gets $50,000 and the semi-finalists earn $25,000.
