Uniqlo Taps Clare Waight Keller

Date:

Speculation has been rife on our forums for a number of months now, as we’ve been waiting in suspense for the announcement of Clare Waight Keller’s next act. It was back in 2020 in which the British designer’s sudden departure as Givenchy’s first female creative director was announced, and it has been radio silence ever since – until now. The rumor mill has been ablaze since May that the designer was set to unveil a collection with Japanese retail company Uniqlo. The recipient of the British Fashion Award’s Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2018 has indeed been announced this week, as the creative force behind Uniqlo’s latest offering Uniqlo: C.

The strong 30-look collection (set for a September 15 release) echos Keller’s work at Givenchy, in addition to her offering as a designer at Chloé which includes head-to-toe looks for both men and women consisting of relaxed sweaters, shrunken cardigans and zipped boyfriend pullovers. The pieces available also includes handbags and footwear (a first for Uniqlo).
See the collection in full and join the conversation over on theFashionSpot forums, here.
