Elina Svitolina took to social media to express gratitude to the Indian Wells public but also all the Americans who are supporting Ukraine and solidifying with the Ukrainians.
So far this week, the current world No. 23 has had a great week on and off the court in Indian Wells. On the court, the Ukrainian tennis star beat Ashlyn Krueger and Danielle Collins to reach the round-of-16 and set up a meeting against Jessica Pegula – all while receiving nice support from the fans.
Off the court, Svitolina had people approach her with some kind words.
And the 30-year-old felt it would be proper for her to publicly acknowledge all of that support and highlight that it means the world to her.
“Dear friends in the USA from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your unwavering support. Your kindness and solidarity remind me that even in the darkest times, we are not alone. Your compassion fuels our hope and inspires us to keep striving for a brighter future together,” the 2023 Wimbledon semifinalist wrote in a message posted on her X account.
