Two powerhouses are coming down to the wire in the Seattle 3 region.
No. 2 UConn and No. 3 Ohio State are some of the biggest programs in their respective conferences, and it’ll show on the court in Seattle Saturday evening.
Jacy Sheldon is the biggest reason the Buckeyes are riding high. Her go-ahead jump shot in the closing seconds vs. North Carolina is what kept them alive, a shot that was the difference in a 71-69 final score.
Several triples from Taylor Mikesell also made sure the Buckeyes stayed ahead comfortably, always holding the lead and stretching it as far as they could against the 6-seed.
UConn hosted a sold out show against Baylor, coming away with a decisive victory to lead their 29th trip to the Sweet 16. Azzi Fudd has been a force since returning from injury. She scored 22 points against the Bears, 16 of those alone in an overly decisive third quarter to help the Huskies on a tough 16-2 run. That was her fifth game since missing 22 earlier in the season.
