UConn freshman Isuneh ‘Ice’ Brady out for season after dislocating right knee

The UConn women’s basketball team’s injury woes continue after freshman forward Isuneh “Ice” Brady suffered a dislocated patella in her right knee. The Huskies announced Brady’s injury Wednesday and said she will miss the 2022-23 season.

Brady hurt her knee during last Friday’s practice and underwent successful surgery Tuesday to repair damage suffered during the dislocation. She will begin rehab Wednesday.

“Anytime any player has an injury, it’s so heartbreaking because they put so much time and effort into being the best player they can be,” coach Geno Auriemma said in a statement. “When that’s taken away — regardless of how long they’re out — to not be able to play is unfortunate. Ice has made so much progress since she’s been here, and I’m really confident that when she does come back, she’s going to be better and more impactful than she already has been.”

Losing Brady, a five-star recruit projected to be part of the Huskies’ frontcourt rotation, is another major hit to UConn, which will be without star Paige Bueckers for the season. Bueckers, a junior, tore her ACL in her left knee during a pickup game in early August.
