U.S. Women’s Open purse, payout breakdown: How much prize money will the winner make?

The LPGA is working hard to bump its prize money toward PGA Tour levels, and this year’s U.S. Open represents a significant step forward for women’s golf. 

The purse last year sat at $10 million and the winner, Minjee Lee, was able to cash a $1.8 million check after winning at Southern Pines for her second major championship.

This year, Lee and the rest of the 156-player field teeing off at Pebble Beach Golf Links have a shot at more.

The 2023 U.S. Women’s Open will have a record-setting purse of $11 million, the biggest purse in tour history, as they aim for total equivalency.

U.S. Women’s Open tournament purse 2023

On July 5, USGA president Mike Whan announced that the purse for the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open will sit at a total of $11 million. 

That number surpasses the $10 million purse from last year and is a massive jump from the $5.5 million on offer at the 2021 event. 

The $11 million purse is the most of the five major tournaments scheduled for the LPGA Tour in 2023:
