The 2024 Summer Olympics are fast approaching. To make it to Paris, U.S. wrestlers will have to qualify during a two-day trial from April 19-20.
The event emanates from Penn State’s campus, the school that led the nation in wrestling. At least 19 current and former Nittany Lions will compete for an opportunity to make it to the Olympics, along with over 190 athletes vying for a spot.
Eighteen of Team USA’s representatives are determined at the event. That includes men’s and women’s freestyle as well as Greco-Roman competition. Those who secured the quota for their weight class compete on day two as they await the winners of the meets from day one.
Joining the trials will be David Taylor, a 2020 Olympic gold medalist and Penn State alum who won two Division I wrestling titles. Taylor represents the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, a nonprofit organization and a designated training center. He is ready to continue his journey as he makes it back to his alma mater.
