The USTA has announced the men’s and women’s singles entry lists for the 2024 US Open, showcasing an impressive lineup led by world No. 1s Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner. Reigning US Open champions Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic, both ranked No. 2, are also top entries, alongside world No. 3s Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz.
Notably, the United States leads all nations with a remarkable 25 players (15 women and 10 men) earning direct entry into the tournament. The American contingent is highlighted by top-ranked women’s players No. 2 Gauff, No. 6 Jessica Pegula, and No. 9 Danielle Collins. On the men’s side, the field features Top-15 players Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, and Ben Shelton.
Several American players have utilized special or protected rankings to gain direct entry, including Reilly Opelka (No. 33), Shelby Rogers (No. 51), and Lauren Davis (No. 59).
The entry lists were determined based on the July 15 rankings, with the women’s cutoff at No. 96 and the men’s cutoff at No. 98.
In other news, this week marks a significant milestone for American tennis, as the United States boasts five women’s players ranked inside the Top 15 for the first time in 20 years.
