After Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula had secured a 2-0 for the USA at the Delray Beach Tennis Center on Saturday, the American team recorded two more wins on Sunday to earn a spot in November’s Billie Jean King Cup Finals with a 4-0 win over Austria.
Jessica Pegula recorded a third and decisive victory by defeating Austrian Julia Grabher 6-1 6-3 to qualify the United States for the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Finals, then Coco Gauff and Caty McNally punctuated the U.S. win with a 6-1 6-4 doubles triumph over Sinja Kraus and Melanie Klaffner to make it a 4-0 weekend sweep of the Austrians in Florida.
The Billie Jean King Cup Finals will be played November 7-12 at a location to be announced. The U.S. will be one of 12 nations competing in four round-robin groups of three, including Switzerland, Australia, Spain, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Germany, Kazakhstan, Canada, the winner of Slovenia/Romania and a wildcard nation.
