Two top ‘victims’ forced to skip Paris Olympics, but the event is full of promises

Injuries in recent weeks have claimed illustrious victims, forcing them to skip Paris Olympics tennis tournament. Marketa Vondrousova, silver medalist in Tokyo 2021, will not participate at the Olympic tournament. The Czech is not having one of her best moments and has explained the reason for her withdrawal.

“I am very sorry, but for health reasons I will not be participating in this year’s Olympic Games in Paris. I hoped until the last moment to be able to do at least the doubles, but my hand problems will not allow me to take the court. Now I am concentrating on being fit for the US Open, and I am crossing my fingers for all the Czech players in France,” she told.

Hubert Hurkacz has done his best to return to the court in the shortest possible time and participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The knee injury suffered at Wimbledon during the match against Arthur Fils forced him to withdraw, despite the great commitment shown in the rehabilitation process. The Polish player should have also played the mixed doubles tournament forming a very respectable pair, probably one of the favorites, with the WTA number one Iga Swiatek.
