The signing period for women’s gymnastics opens today, which means that dozens of high school athletes will sign agreements to formalize their commitments to their future college teams. Most of these athletes are high school seniors who will begin training with their college team in the fall of 2025 and first compete during the 2026 season while others will finish high school early and join in January 2025. Still others are high school juniors who will graduate a year early or are international elites. Athletes joining their teams this January are denoted by a single asterisk (*). Those that were originally in the class of 2026 but are graduating a year early are indicated by a double asterisk (**).
This is the first signing period since the abandonment of the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program, meaning that scholarship athletes will be signing contracts directly produced by the schools. In past years, we have distinguished between NLI signings and simpler confirmation ceremonies performed by future walk-ons, but the loss of the NLI complicates matters, as it may not be as easy to determine whether each athlete is signing official aid paperwork.
