WESLEY CHAPEL, Florida – Florida’s Gulf Coast volleyball teams know how to serve up some championship talent, and how.
Dozens of schools from across the Sunshine State gathered at the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Complex just outside of Tampa on Friday and produced some breath-taking performances in the third annual Florida Gem High School Classic. The two-day tournament features three varsity divisions (Open, American and USA), as well as two JV divisions.
A whopping 12 of the 16 teams entered in the Varsity Open division – the toughest of the three varsity divisions – made the state playoffs last year. And that championship ability showed all day across the four, 4-team pools.
