Tottenham Hotspur Women have sacked head coach Rehanne Skinner after a run of nine league defeats in a row.
Skinner left her role as assistant coach with England to take over at Tottenham in November 2020 before guiding them to eighth- and fifth-placed finishes in the Women’s Super League.
The 8-0 WSL win over Brighton in October proved to be her final victory in charge, however, with Sunday’s 2-1 defeat by Liverpool leaving the north London club firmly in a relegation battle.
Skinner leaves with the club third from bottom of the table just two points above last-placed Leicester City, who occupy the only relegation spot in the division.
Tottenham Hotspur Women managing director Andy Rogers said: “Since joining us in 2020, Rehanne has played an integral role in our development in the women’s game, both on and off the field.
“She has carried out her duties with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail, and we should like to thank her for everything she has done for us over the course of her tenure.”
Assistant head coach Vicky Jepson will take charge for Wednesday’s fixture against Leicester.
