Many fans were surprised—and disappointed—when Deja Kelly, one of college basketball’s most recognizable names, went undrafted in the 2025 WNBA Draft. But things are looking up for the former Tar Heel and Oregon Duck.
Kelly has officially been signed to a training camp contract with the Las Vegas Aces. This gives her an opportunity to prove she belongs in the league and for the Aces to evaluate if she’s a fit for their already stacked roster.

Due to the WNBA’s small size, even standout college players often don’t get a fair shot. However, expansion is slowly changing that landscape. With the addition of the Golden State Valkyries, the league is now up to 13 teams, with a 14th expected to debut in 2026.
Still, competition remains fierce. WNBA rosters are limited—teams must carry 11 players and no more than 12. With the Aces boasting one of the deepest lineups in the league, Kelly will face an uphill battle to earn a spot.
