You may have read last week’s article 2023 Recruit Ratings By the Numbers, but that was just a quick overview of some of the stats related to this year’s ratings. Of particular interest to gymnastics fans is the distribution of top recruits among states or regions of the country. To dive into this further, we created an interactive map to break down the number of three-, four-, and five-star recruits by state and Canadian province.
The map below shows the total number of recruits who currently train in each state or province, and the breakdown by stars can be viewed by hovering over each location. Texas’ dominance in developmental gymnastics unsurprisingly stands out in this visualization, but a less expected outcome is Ontario being the fourth highest state/province by number of rated recruits. Canadian participation in NCAA gymnastics has been on the rise for several years, and that trend looks like it will continue.
