After completing a hard-fought 7-6 (1) 1-6 7-5 win over former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka in the French Open, Swiatek took a moment to address the crowd at Court Philippe Chatrier. During her speech, defending French Open champion Swiatek made it clear she felt they were going over the line in certain moments and being disruptive. At the end of her speech, Swiatek said she respected them and expressed hope their relationship would remain good.
On Thursday, former world No. 2 Badosa hit the court for her second-round match against Yulia Putintseva and claimed a 4-6 6-1 7-5 win. In her post-match press conference, the 26-year-old Spaniard was asked to address Swiatek’s complaints about the French Open crowd being “too noisy.”
“But was this an issue these days? There’s been an issue?” Badosa asked the reporter.
