“We will take our time, there is no rush,” Jannik Sinner, the ATP’s no. 2 ranked player commented on his approximation date back on tour. He is absent from the competitive courts due to an injured right hip sustained at the Madrid Open.
Sinner was successful at winning his first and second rounds at the Spain event, but was unable to play the quarterfinal against Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime. The 22-year-old Italian compared a heavy season of playing with becoming injured and says that “Last year I played a whole season without injuries and also in this season so far…” Sinner’s voice trailed off a bit not knowing really how long he would be absent from the game he’s played as a young boy.
The beginning of the season he won the Australian Open against Medvedev and survived 4 winning rounds of straight sets wins, 4 set battling with Novak Djokovic and the Championship round of 5 sets with Daniil. He won Rotterdam and went deep at Indian Wells.
He’d also captured the Miami Open crown. The start of the clay season he went to the semifinal at Monte Carlo but Madrid was the overbearing tournament he unfortunately was injured. He’s played an abundance of matches and couldn’t ask for for any better results.
It’s a bit disappointing though that he would have to miss…
