This one’s for the Pickleball fans, which I’m confident are plenty. With Pickleball growing at an exponential rate, it’s only fair we give the spotlight to one of the most legendary players in the sport. Her name is Simone Jardim!
If you’re not familiar with Simone, you will be soon! Though she’s well known in her own right, she’s been gaining media attention as of late for her victories alongside her doubles partner, Parris Todd.
Simone Jardim Career
Let me give you a quick rundown of her impressive career. Simone started out as a Tennis player and was even ranked as high as 29th in the world in doubles! She also coached Tennis at Michigan State University.
But in 2015, she decided to make the shift to Pickleball, and boy, did it pay off! Simone quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the Pickleball world. She dominated in both singles and doubles, winning numerous titles and accolades along the way. In fact, she was the number one ranked player in the world for three consecutive years in singles, from 2017 to 2019.
But Simone didn’t stop there. In 2019, she made the difficult decision to step away from singles competition and focus solely on doubles. She teamed up with fellow Pickleball pro, Parris Todd, and the two have been on fire ever since.
Though Simone announced her retirement in December of 2021, with plans to hang up her paddle at the end of the 2022 season, it appears she’s had a change of heart. And, we couldn’t be happier with her decision! She’s still killing it!
Simone and Parris
I know what you’re thinking. What an unlikely duo. Simone, age 43, teaming up 24 year old Parris Todd? Yes, and together, Simone and Parris have won countless tournaments, most recently the US Open and the APP Sunmed Sacramento Open. Parris even refers to Simone as the GOAT! The duo is known for their impressive teamwork, quick reflexes, fashionable Pickleball outfits, and fierce competitiveness on the court.
But what sets Simone apart from other athletes is her dedication to the sport and her desire to help grow the Pickleball community. She’s a certified instructor and has traveled all over the world teaching clinics and sharing her knowledge with others.
Simone is also a proud ambassador for the sport and is always looking for ways to promote Pickleball and bring more attention to it. She’s been featured in numerous publications and has even appeared on the Today Show and ESPN.
So, what’s next for Simone Jardim? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure – she’s not slowing down anytime soon. She’s already achieved so much in her career, but I have a feeling that she’s just getting started!
In conclusion, Simone Jardim is a true inspiration and a role model for anyone who wants to pursue their passion with dedication and perseverance. Whether you’re a Pickleball player or not, there’s no denying that Simone’s talent and drive are truly impressive. And, alongside Parris Todd, she’s part of a real dream team!
