The victory at the BNP Paribas Open allowed Carlos Alcaraz to find success again 9 months after the last title won.

By beating Daniil Medvedev in the final, the young Spaniard defended the title he won in Indian Wells last year, won his first title of 2024 and defended the 2nd position of  the ATP ranking from the attacks of Jannik Sinner, beating his young Italian rival in the semifinals.

Precisely with the victory against Sinner he interrupted one of the longest winning streaks that a tennis player has ever had in recent years. Sinner was coming off 19 consecutive victories, 16 consecutive in 2024. The young Italian’s last defeat dates back to the final of the 2023 ATP Finals, lost against Novak Djokovic.

The rivalry between Alcaraz and Sinner has already reached their eighth head-to-head. By winning the semi-final against the Italian tennis player, the Spaniard brought the previous results to perfect parity: 4 draws.
