Over five months ago, the Washington Spirit completed their search for a new head coach as they appointed Jonatan (Jona) Giráldez Costas to fulfill the role.

However, Giráldez made the decision to join the Spirit following the end of the FC Barcelona Femení season where he recently ended his Barcelona season on a high note as the team defeated Valencia 3-0 to win their third UEFA Champions League title.

With a five-month physical absence from the club, interim head coach Adrián González has since made an impressive turnout for the Spirit as they currently rank No. 3 in the NWSL rankings with a 10-1-3 (wins, draws, losses) record.
