Texas vs. Texas Tech softball live score, updates, highlights from Game 2 of 2025 Women’s College World Series

Date:

Softball fans were promised a pitching spectacle during this year’s Women’s College World Series finals between Texas and Texas Tech. They weren’t left disappointed after Game 1.

Teagan Kavan and NiJaree Canady enjoyed starring showcases atop the glistening Devon Park diamond, combining for 10 strikeouts, seven hits allowed, and two earned runs surrendered.

Unfortunately for the Red Raiders, both runs came at Canady’s expense. The back-to-back First-Team All-American missed her spot while attempting to intentionally walk Reese Atwood, instead giving up a game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the sixth.

The Longhorns left the field 2-1 winners, taking advantage of yet another Kavan complete-game masterpiece. She figures to get the ball in Game 2, as she hasn’t given up an earned run in four games, so such a decision would appear to be an inspired choice.

Game 1 was a contentious affair, filled with controversial calls, lengthy delays, and weak contact. Game 2 could fare similarly — Kavan and Canady aren’t known for making mistakes.
