The first matchup of the third day of the Women’s College World Series pits a pair of coaching titans against one another, giving the sports world a chance to watch greatness in action.
No. 6 Texas and No. 2 Oklahoma are slated to joust beneath the shimmery Oklahoma City sun on Saturday. The duel, a clash of former Big 12 rivals-turned-SEC-powerhouses, is headlined by its tactical gurus: Longhorns taskmaster Mike White and Sooners icon Patty Gasso.
White and Gasso have tested wits in the dugout more than a few times. In 2022 and 2024, the two faced off in the WCWS finals. Both series went the way of Gasso’s side despite Texas’ best efforts.
What will the result be this time around? It’s truly anyone’s guess. The Longhorns battled their hated rivals on three separate occasions in 2025. All three went the way of Boomer Sooner, although two were decided by a single run.
