The four Grand Slam tournaments are done for 2024, but the tennis calendar has plenty — some might say too much — still to come.
After Masters 1000 tournaments in Shanghai and Paris for the ATP Tour, and Beijing and Wuhan for the WTA Tour, it’s time for the season-ending ATP and WTA Tour Finals.
The top eight players of the year will land in Turin and Riyadh, respectively — but not before a buffet of 250 and 500-level tournaments across the globe. Then there’s the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, held in Malaga, Spain, before tennis takes a break (unless you are playing on the WTA 125 and ATP Challenger circuit) until the end of December.
There is no shortage of storylines. Men’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner remains embroiled in his doping case; his main rival, Carlos Alcaraz, has leapfrogged Alexander Zverev to reclaim the No. 2 spot in the ATP rankings. World No. 1 and No. 2 Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka are dueling for supremacy on the women’s side; several players either at the top of the women’s tour or seeking to get back there, including Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka have fired their coaches.
