Former 18-time Grand Slam champion Chris Evert dropped some major praise on Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz, saying that they “brought a new and higher level to the game” while also predicting their Grand Slam numbers will reach double digits.
On Saturday, Swiatek – who turned 23 during the tournament – won her fifth Grand Slam title after dominating Jasmine Paolini 6-2 6-1 in the final. The following day, Alcaraz – who celebrated his 21st birthday a month ago – defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3 2-6 5-7 6-1 6-2 to lift a Slam title for the third time in his career.
And Evert – who is widely regarded as one of the greatest champions in tennis history – had a special message for Swiatek and Alcaraz.
“Congrats to @iga_swiatek and @carlosalcaraz. They’ve brought a new and higher level to the game. Forecasting double digits in Slams. They will be around for a long time!” Evert wrote on X.
