The NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Committee has selected the teams that will compete in the 2021 NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

The championship provides for a 12-team tournament. Four predetermined sites will host first- and second- round competition Friday, May 14, and Sunday, May 16. These preliminary round games will be played on the campuses of East Stroudsburg University (Atlantic Region), Roberts Wesleyan College (East Region), Lindenwood University (Midwest Region), and Florida Southern College (South Region.) The winners of the four second-round games will advance to the semifinals and finals which will be conducted Friday, May 21, and Sunday, May 23. The championship will be co-hosted by the Mountain East Conference and the City of Salem, in Salem, Virginia.

Earning the No. 1 seeds are: West Chester University of Pennsylvania (Atlantic region), Roberts Wesleyan College (East region), University of Indianapolis (Midwest region), and Queens…

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel on Wednesday approved changes to pregame and in-game stick checks in women’s lacrosse for the 2019-20 academic year.

The pregame stick check procedure will be changed to a random selection and closer inspection of eight sticks, while the number of in-game stick checks will be reduced to two per team. Previously, teams could request three stick checks.

Additionally, during a timeout, only the coach who called it can request a stick check. If a coach requests a stick check without calling a timeout and the opponent’s stick is found to be legal, the team that made the request will be charged with a timeout. If a team does not have a timeout and the opponent’s stick is found to be legal, possession of the ball will be awarded to the team that passed the stick check.

The NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Rules Committee received several proposals about stick checks from the membership and decided this was the best alternative.

The NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Rules Committee has proposed changes to pregame and in-game stick checks for the 2019-20 academic year.

All rule changes must be approved by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel, which is scheduled to consider the women’s lacrosse rules recommendations July 24.

Committee members, who met last week in Indianapolis, discussed stick checks thoroughly before deciding to replace the pregame stick check procedure with a random selection and closer inspection of eight sticks and to reduce the number of in-game stick checks to two per team. Currently, teams can request three stick checks.
