Stuart Webber is sitting at a large round table in Carrow Road’s Gunn Club lounge, waiting to be quizzed.

Such rendezvous were a regular feature of Webber’s first four years as Norwich City’s sporting director, although they have been fewer in number over the past 18 months.

Lately, Webber’s relationship with some supporters has deteriorated, recruitment has been called into question and Norwich followed Premier League relegation by finishing 13th in the Championship.

Repairing that damage, restoring reputations and Webber’s own future were all subjects visited at that large round table as The Athletic talked to Webber, starting with his feelings on the season just gone…

The Athletic: Is it difficult to analyse and reflect on what has happened? Everyone wants that forward focus. Is it important how you balance the two?

We analyse everything we do every day. We learn from good things and bad things. But what’s important is keeping the context of where you are as a business. You can’t keep going over things you…

Norwich City’s sporting director Stuart Webber has been to one game of women’s football and says he is not interested in it.

In April, Norwich City Women played at Carrow Road for the first time, winning 5-3 against Ashford Town in front of 7,500 supporters.

In an interview with The Athletic reviewing the year at Norwich and a disappointing season for the men’s team as they finished 13th in the Championship, Webber was asked how they would build on the success of that women’s game.

In a wide-ranging interview that touched on Norwich’s recruitment, the decision to sack Dean Smith and his own future at the club, Webber also spoke about the abuse he has received from fans of the men’s team, many of whom blame him for the club drifting down the Championship table.

“All the…
