Burnley have finally conceded a goal having gone a record 12 league matches in a row shutting out their opponents.

The Championship club broke the second tier record for consecutive league games without conceding in the 2-0 victory over Hull City on February 12, the club’s 10th successive clean sheet.

Scott Parker’s side subsequently extended the record to 12 matches before that run came to an end against Cardiff City on Tuesday, March 4.

The goal from Cardiff’s Yousef Salech was the first Burnley had conceded in the Championship since the 2-1 victory over Watford on December 21, with Kwadwo Baah scoring what proved to be only a consolation in the 80th minute.

James Trafford, Burnley’s 22-year-old goalkeeper, also broke the record for consecutive clean sheets having played every match in that run.

JJ Watt, one of the great NFL defensive ends who played for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals before retiring, can also now breathe a sigh of relief.
