The best part of the women’s college basketball season is being in the thick of conference play. So many things are brought to light, whether it’s conference dominance or all-out chaos as multiple teams vie for the No. 1 spot. It also adds to the bigger picture when it comes to rankings and the hierarchy of teams across the country. As such, this week’s column focuses on a handful of conference questions, with some others thrown into the mix.

1. Who will win the Big 12 regular-season title?

Like the ACC, the Big 12 has been all over the place since conference play began. Kansas State was out in front at the beginning of the season, but it has since dropped three conference games in a row. Same with Kansas. Iowa State was also a front-runner as one of the most complete teams in the conference. But the Cyclones’ dynamic changed when they lost Stephanie Soares to a torn ACL (more on that below). Baylor has been up and down, as transfer Dre’Una Edwards is out until the issue with her release from Kentucky becomes resolved. Oklahoma State and West Virginia are on three-game win streaks.
