Through gritted teeth and after an electrifying finish, American Rose Zhang won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. In the tournament’s fourth edition, Zhang completed rounds of 66, 65, and 76 with 207 strokes (-9), just like her compatriot Jenny Bae, whom she beat in two extra holes.

The champion prevailed on the second playoff hole played on the legendary Augusta National course. With her conquest, the world number one completed the Grand Slam of women’s amateur golf. At 19, Zhang showed that she is ready for professional golf.

“Being able to play competitively at Augusta National is certainly different from any other venue that I’ve played in. It’s funny because the last four times that I played here, I remember my scores being nowhere near under par,” said the winner, daughter of Chinese emigrants.

On the first playoff hole (the 18th hole), both players made par. So everything was defined on the second hole (the 10th). Zhang and Bae found the fairway off the tee, but Bae missed her second shot and then her third as she approached under a tree. Bae took two more shots to find the green and cleared the way for Zhang, who hit the pin with her putt and sealed the victory with a par.

The Augusta National Women’s Amateur has been played since 2019. The first two rounds take place at Champions Retreat Golf Club, and the final round at Augusta National. The tournament is held the week before the Masters Tournament. The winner receives invitations to the following US Women’s Open and Women’s British Open and any USGA, R&A, and PGA of America amateur events (as long as she maintains her amateur player status).

This contest aims to generate greater interest and participation in women’s golf, with the primary objective that golfers worldwide can fulfill their dreams.

Starting Monday, the participants of the traditional Masters Tournament will begin to arrive at Augusta National. The first major of 2023 will start on Thursday and run until Sunday.

March 24 was the chosen date. As of that day, all golf fans will have in their hands the EA Sports PGA Tour 2023, which will again have the participation of the LPGA Tour.

The latest edition of the famous game will be licensed by the world’s leading golf organizations, including the collaboration of the Ladies Professional Golf Association and the Amundi Evian Championship. The list also includes the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, a competition launched in 2019. This will allow fans to play the game with golfers from the women’s tour and create their own player with a revamped golfer editor.

It is worth noting the participation of Iona Stephen, who will be part of the cast of commentators and will be the first woman to do so on the course. Stephen played for many years as a professional golfer and has extensive experience with all major television networks, including Sky Sports Golf, GolfTV, NBC Golf Channel, and the BBC.

The best once again said yes to EA Sports

The new edition of the EA Sports PGA Tour will exclusively feature the four major men’s golf tournaments: the US Open, The Open Championship, the PGA Championship, and the Masters Tournament. It will also have more than 30 licensed golf courses, including all those that have hosted major tournaments in the last three years.

One of the most anticipated surprises is that players will have TrackMan’s data analysis to study each swing and determine the improvements achieved, among other statistics.

For this new edition, EA has partnered with Augusta National, the USGA, The R&A, the PGA of America, the PGA TOUR, and the LPGA to present re-creations of the Masters, US Open, The Open Championship, PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, Players Championship, FedExCup, Evian Championship, US Amateur, Amateur Championship, Latin America Amateur Championship, Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, Augusta National Women’s Amateur and a large number of tournaments.

EA SPORTS PGA Tour will be available to play on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the EA App, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
