Swiatek wins home tournament in Warsaw, her fourth title in 2023

World No.1 Iga Swiatek won two matches this Sunday to win her 15th career title and fourth in 2023 at the BNP Paribas Warsaw Open in her homeland of Poland.

Since her semifinal against Yanina Wickmayer was suspended due to darkness at 6-1 5-5 on Saturday night, Swiatek finished it off earlier on Sunday 6-1 7-6(6). Afterwards, the Pole spent just 68 minutes to comfortably win the final against Laura Siegemund 6-0 6-1. She demonstrated her supremacy by breaking the world No.153 Siegemund’s serve five times during the championship match, while managing to avoid facing any break points herself.

The 22-year-old Swiatek has won a Tour-leading 45 matches so far in 2023. The Pole has held the No.1 ranking since April 4, 2022, which makes her current career total 69 consecutive weeks. Before her victory at the Warsaw Open, Swiatek had already secured three notable titles this season: Doha, Stuttgart, and Roland Garros.
