Connecticut Sun star Alyssa Thomas was ejected late in the third quarter of Saturday night’s 86-82 win over the Chicago Sky after being assessed a flagrant foul 2 on rookie Angel Reese.
Thomas and Reese were battling down low for a rebound when Thomas extended her arm into Reese’s neck and appeared to push Reese toward the floor. Reese took a hard fall but returned to game action.
After the play was reviewed, Thomas, who came in second in MVP voting last season, received the first flagrant foul 2 of her career. She left with nine points, six assists and six rebounds.
Reese, the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, finished 13 points and five rebounds.
The Sun improved to 5-0 with Saturday’s win, while the Sky, hosting their first home game of the season, fell to 2-2.
