UNCASVILLE, Conn. — The Connecticut Sun clinched their best start in franchise history as they improved to 6-0 on the season with a 70-47 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The Sun, who have advanced to at least the semifinals each of the previous five seasons, are the only undefeated team remaining in the WNBA and have asserted themselves as championship contenders once more.
Connecticut shot just 35.1% from the field on Tuesday but shut down the Mercury’s offense, holding them to just 1-for-27 shooting from the 3-point arc. Despite entering the game hitting 38.1% from 3-point range, the second-best percentage in the league, Phoenix’s 3.7% clip Tuesday is the worst non-zero 3-point shooting percentage in a game in WNBA history.
