CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA — Top-seed Stanford and Northwestern each scored a pair of match play victories on Tuesday to advance to the national championship match of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships that will be decided on Wednesday, May 21 at the North Course at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa (6,330 yards/par 72).
Defending national champions, Stanford will be looking for its fourth national title on Wednesday (2015, 2022, 2024). Northwestern will be seeking their first DI women’s golf championship. The Wildcats took runner-up in 2017 in their only other championship match appearance. The two schools last met in the 2018 match play quarterfinals with Stanford advancing 3-2. The match play portion was added to the NCAA Championships prior to the start of the 2015 season.

Stanford saw three matches go to sudden-death playoff holes before advancing to the title match with a 3-2 national semifinal win over Florida State. After securing victories with Paula Martin Sampedro (5&3) and Kelly Xu (5&4), Megha Ganne won the second playoff hole (1UP) to win the match.
