Spirit sign 15-year-old Chloe Ricketts to 3-year deal; midfielder becomes youngest contracted NWSL player

The Washington Spirit signed 15-year-old midfielder Chloe Ricketts to a three-year contract with an option for 2026, the team announced Friday. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Ricketts, a high school sophomore, becomes the youngest contracted NWSL player, overtaking Portland’s Olivia Moultrie by three days.
  • Moultrie signed her first professional contract at 15 years and 286 days old in June 2021, while Ricketts was 15 years and 283 days old when she signed Thursday. Moultrie debuted as the league’s youngest player days after signing.
  • Ricketts will join the NWSL through the league’s Under-18 Entry Mechanism and will occupy a full roster spot.
