After years of turnover in the position, the Los Angeles Sparks are hiring Raegan Pebley as their new general manager in hopes of stabilizing the franchise, according to the franchise.
Pebley takes over for Karen Bryant, who became the GM and Chief Administrative Officer at this time last year. Bryant will remain with the organization in a larger strategic role and assist with business operations.
Bryant was originally brought on as an advisor for the Sparks in 2021 and helped hire current coach Curt Miller before the 2023 season. She was also tasked with finding their next general manager after the Sparks and Derek Fisher parted ways in 2022 amid his unsuccessful tenure. Bryant assumed the position in 2023 with the understanding that she would move on from the role when the right person became available.
The Sparks, who will make an official announcement later Friday, have decided that Pebley is that individual.
Pebley comes to the Sparks after spending the last two decades as a college coach, including the last nine seasons at TCU, but no front-office experience. She had previous coaching stops at Fresno State and Utah State, and she also spent two years as a Colorado State assistant, overlapping with Miller’s time as a coach there.
