Spain and Sweden played out a tense, goalless first half in the Women’s World Cup semifinal at Eden Park.
Two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas was restored to the Spain starting line-up and Jorge Vilda’s team controlled large chunks of the action, enjoying 67% of possession during the opening 45 minutes.
But the best chance fell Sweden’s way, with Cata Coll producing a superb save to deny Fridolina Rolfo.
