The South Carolina Gamecocks’ women’s basketball team and head coach Dawn Staley made it all the way to the national championship this season. Unfortunately, they ran into a brick wall that was Geno Auriemma, Paige Bueckers, and the UConn Huskies.
In the national championship, South Carolina stood no chance. Staley and company were defeated by a final score of 82-59.
Despite the championship game loss, Staley and the Gamecocks have a lot to be proud of from the 2024-25 season. They finished the year with an impressive 35-4 record and a trip to the title game is nothing to hang their heads about. It’s a disappointing loss, but one that should simply motivate them more for next year.
