South Carolina basketball star Aliyah Boston is entering the 2023 WNBA Draft, she announced on social media Saturday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Boston, a four-time All-American and back-to-back Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, is the projected No. 1 pick in the draft. The Indiana Fever have the top pick.
- Despite playing four NCAA seasons, Boston had an additional year of eligibility remaining because of the COVID-19 pandemic and could have returned to school.
- The Gamecocks went 36-1 this season, falling to Iowa in the Final Four on Friday.
- The 6-foot-5 center averaged 13 points, 9.8 rebounds and two blocks per game in her senior season. She holds career averages of 14.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
